  • Since ancient times, the Japanese believe that anyone who folds a thousand paper cranes will be granted one wish.
  • Some people give origami cranes to cancer patients, to signify a wish for the patient's recovery and long life.
  • A thousand paper cranes are commonly given as wedding gifts by fathers in the Japanese culture, to wish the newly wedded couple a thousand years of prosperity and happiness.
